Procedure

  • Evaluate and determine the sufficiency and adequacy of the space allocated for the performance of the work.
    • Communicate requirements to the laboratory management committee
  • See Procedure for laboratory information management to understand how to safegaurd laboratory information. The same instructions apply to safeguard patient samples and other laboratory resources from unauthorized access
  • Cleanliness
    • Ask outsourced cleaning staff to clean all area of laboratory as and when required.
    • Acceptable:Floor,Platform,Equipment,Wall,Glass,Ceiling,Toilet should be clean
    • While giving cleaning service certificate every month, communicate inadequacy to the contractor.
  • Electrical supply
    • Acceptable:Fan,AC,Light,Plug-points,UPS should be working
    • For malfunctioning electrical equipment, communicate to the electrical department for necessary steps
    • Whenever electrical failure occur follow Procedure for action during electrical failure.
  • Humidity
    • Acceptable:
    • For excess of humidity, discuss matter with the Laboratory Management and PIU engineering department.
  • Room temperature
    • Acceptable:15'C-25'C
    • For unacceptable temperature discuss matter with the Laboratory Management and PIU engineering department.
  • Waste disposal
  • Communication systems
    • Use following means of communication available to the laboratory for transfer of information within and outside the laboratory.
    • Oral communication during meetings
      • Weekly meetings of college council
      • meetings called by the dean and medical superintendent from time to time
      • Formal and informal meeting with personnel
    • Telephonic communication on intercom, landline and mobile
    • Written communication
      • For purchase related and other communications with the parent institute.
  • electronic communication
  • For communication to purchase department and vendors
  • For inter-personnel communications regarding complains, suggestions, audit reports etc.

Safety facilities

  1. Keep one fire extinguisher at the main gate of the laboratory(Outer most part of the laboratory).1)
  2. Ensure that they are sent for refilling when asked by the parent institute.
  3. Arrange for training programm about how_to_use_fire_extinghisher.odt just before refilling, this helps retraining the staff as well as ensures that the cylinder is actually refilled.
  4. Keep Eye wash facility-1 at entrance of OPD 10 .
  5. Keep First Aid Kit-1 at sample collection room no. 2 of OPD 10
  6. Keep Spillage Kit-1 at sample collection room no. 2 of OPD 10.
  7. HBV Vaccination procedure HBV vaccivation
  8. Keep ART Kit-1 (post exposure prophylaxis for HIV) sample at collection room no. 2 of OPD 10.
  9. For further help go to medicine OPD/casualty (Trauma center) and call a healthcare person..
  10. Keep a copy of Emergency exit plan of the laboratory at the main gate
  11. Add reminder for checking expiry date for drugs in first Aid kit, ART first dose and eye wash kit

  • Evaluate and determine the sufficiency and adequacy of the space allocated for storage
    • Communicate requirements to the laboratory management committee

Staff Facilities

  • Evaluate and determine the sufficiency and adequacy of staff facility
    • Communicate requirements to the laboratory management committee
