One 2nd/3rd year resident doctor and two technicians are posted for emergency duty daily.
Emergency hours are as following:
Monday to Friday: 4pm to 8am.
Saturday 1pm to Monday 8am.
Sunday: 24 hours
1St year residents are given 1 month observation posting and for 3 month regular posting in Hematology section, during which, training for all Hematology investigations are taken by post M.D. person.
After 1st year, examination is taken for evaluation of competence.
If they are found competent, they are allotted night duty on rotation basis, in which they can sign and dispatch emergency investigation reports independently on interim basis.
For technicians: The night duties are allotted to the technicians having minimum 1 year experience in hematology section. They are given training for all hematological tests during the routine posting and thereafter evaluation of their competence done by examination.
