IRON examination procedure
- Learn operation of Erba XL-640 and Erbachem.
- Select equipment
- Use Erba XL-640 as peferred equipment.
- If Erba XL-640 is malfunctioning and can not be repaired within period acceptable to clinicians, use Erbachem and follow procedure for responding to Erba XL-640 failure

Erba XL-640
NOTE: ERBA XL 640 shows interference with iron assay when run randomly. Generally first sample in a batch also shows positive interferance. To prevent interferance, run iron and TIBC assay in saperate batch atleast once a day. This also helps in using fresh R1 with vitamin C. Program blank in Erba-XL 640. Program two types of Iron: 1) IRON 2) TIRON.
- Iron batch
- TIRON as first sample
- Iron as subsequent samples
- The equipment will take 3 TIRON blan, followed by 3 IRON blank. This TIRON will wash probe before measuring IRON.
