Install Debian operating system

  1. Insert bootable CD or USB of Debian in computer and restart the computer.
  2. 'Press any key to boot from cd' such message appear on screen.
  3. Enter on Live(486).
  4. On desktop, icon “install debian wheezy” appear. Double click on that.
  5. Menu will appear and click on “Go back”.
  6. Enter on change debconf priority and select “low” and click “continue”.
  7. Enter on Choose language
    1. select english and click continue
    2. select United states and click continue
    3. select United states en_us.UTF-8 and click continue and then press enter.
  8. Enter on configure the speech synthesizer voice.
  9. Enter on configure the keyboard, select American english and click continue.
  10. Enter on Detect and mount CD-ROM.
  11. Enter on Load installer components from CD and click continue.
  12. Enter on configure the network SKIP THIS OPTION.
    1. select yes and press enter.
    2. click on cancel for 2 times.
    3. select “Do not configure the network at this time” and click continue 2 times.
  13. Enter on Set up user and password.
    1. create root password and click continue.
    2. Create user and password for that.
  14. Enter on configure clock SKIP THIS OPTION.
    1. Select yes and click continue.
    2. Click on UTC and click continue.
  15. Enter on Detect disks
  16. Enter on Partition disks
    1. Select manual and click continue.
    2. In SCSI-3 (0,0,0) (sda), select #1 Primary and press enter.
    3. Delete Partition and make new partition .
    4. Do “ext 4” as journalling system.
    5. Make another at least 7 gb “Logical” partition as Swap area.
    6. Select finish partition and write changes to disk and click continue.
  17. Enter on Install the system,select on normal and enter.
  18. Enter on configure the package manager SKIP THIS OPTION
  19. Enter on Install GRUB loader on a hard disk select on yes and enter.
  20. Enter on finish installation.
  21. Remove bootable USB drive or CD and restart computer

Network setting

  1. Log in as 'root'.
  2. Go to the “Application manu—>Setting—>Network connection”.
  3. Click on “wired connection” as shown in screenshot
  4. Click on “edit” from above screenshot and after clicking below screen appear.
  5. Click on “IPV4 setting” as shown in above screenshot.
  6. Click on “manual” as shown in above screenshot.
  7. Click on “Add” as shown in above screenshot.
  8. Click on “Adress” and give appropriate IP address allocated to that perticular computer.
  9. Click on “Netmask” and write “255.255.0.0”.
  10. Click on “Save”.
  11. Then “close”.

Install Ubuntu operating system

  1. Insert CD of ubuntu into computer —→ restart the computer —→ choose language “English” —→ select country —→ click forward —→ select keyboard layout “USA” —→ click “specified partition manually” —→ click on free space —→ click on “ADD” —→ create new partition
    1. “/” —→ Ext4 file system choose mount point “/” —→ Give size according to need.
    2. “/home” —→ Ext4 file system choose mount point “/home” —→ Give size according to need.
    3. For swab area choose “swap area” from “use as”.Keep minimum space for swap area.
  2. Next step ask “who are you?” —→ type “biochemistry” and last step click on “install”.
  3. Wait until computer automatically starts.
