Ferritine is good marker of iron store and should be used to diagnose iron deficiency
Ferritine concentration should not be used alone to identify risk for iron overload so patient with elevated feriitine should receive clinical and laboratory evaluation.

In healthy individual, infants and young children <12 ug/L.
In children 5 to 10 years, adult and pregnant women <15 ug/L.
In infammation or infection, infants and young children <30 ug/L.
