INSTRUMENT START UP

By pressing the on/off switch, instrument will display “LOAD” message & “x” blinking untill initialization is complete.

PH CALIBRATION

  1. The instrument should be recalibrated in following condition:
    1. At least once a week
    2. If “CAL INTV”tags are blinking during measurement.
    3. Whenever there is need for measuring PH in preparation of new reagent.
  2. Every time, you calibrate the instrument, use fresh buffers & perform an electrode cleaning procedure.
  3. If you measuring in the acidic range, use PH 9.01 or 6.86 as first buffer & 4.1 as second buffer.if you are measuring in alkaline range,
  4. use pH 4.01 as first buffer & pH 6.8,9.01 as second buffer.
  5. Three point calibration is recommended
  6. Submerse the pH electrode & the temperature probe approximately 3cm into a buffer solution & stir gently, the temperature probe should be close to the pH electrode.
  7. press “CAL”the “CAL” & “buf” tags will appear & the '7.01' buffer will the displayed,if necessary, press the 'ARROW' key to select a different buffer value.
  8. The tag will blink on LCD untill the reading is stable.when reading is stable & close to the selected buffer, the “READY”tag will be displayed & the “CFM” TAG will blink.
  9. Press “CFM” to confirm calibration.
  10. Press “CAL”after third calibration point was confirmed to store latest calibration.
  11. If the value measured by the instrument is not close to the selected buffer,”WRONG”tags will blink alternately ,check if the correct buffer has been used,or clean an electrode by cleaning procedure.

PH MEASUREMENT

  1. Donot dip electrode in AMP, DEA, Tris buffer, Highly acidic and higly alkaline solution for log period. Wash immediately after each dip.(AMP, DEA, Tris reacs with silver ion and cause precipitate at frit, blocs it and caused error.)
  2. Make sure the instrument has been calibrated before taking pH measurements.
  3. Submerse the pH electrode atleast 3cm into a buffer solution & stir gently.
  4. If measurements are taken successively in different samples,it is recommended to rinse the electrode thoroughly with deionised water & mop with tissue paper,to prevent cross contamination.

ELECRODE CONDITIONING & MAINTENANCE

  1. Glass bulb & the junction should be kept moist & not allowed to dry out.
  2. whole electrode should be dipped into saturated KCl solution and fill KCl powder inside electrode. (Note: PH of this solution will be within 3.0 - 5.0 )
  3. Change KCL solution outside electrode everymonth.
  4. Change KCL solution inside electrode when level reaches 3cm below input hole
  5. keep reminder for the same in LIS
  6. Never store the electrode in distilled water.

Trouble shooting Guide

symptoms problem solution
Slow responsedirty pH electrodeClean the electrode & dip the tip in cleaning solution for 30 min excessive drift
Reading fluctuate up & downclogged/dirty junctionclean the electrode & check cable & connectors
Meter does not accept the buffer solution for calibrationDirty electrode or contaminated buffer follow the cleaning procedureReplace electrode,if still no result ,replace the electrode
If old buffer message repeatedly displyedChange in electrode/equipment conditionDuring calibration press LOG CLR button for few seconds to clear old data
