Persons responsible

The laboratory servant or technical assistant or any other personnel of the biochemistry laboratory visits OPD sample collection center to bring samples to the biochemistry laboratory.

Procedure

  1. bring samples to biochemistry laboratory from OPD sample collection center 3-4 times between 9 am and 1 pm and once at 6 pm. (to start examination of collected samples as early as possible and reduce turnaround time)
  2. keep the whole rack of samples in sample-rack container.
  3. Transport sample to the laboratory.

Preparation of sample-rack container

  1. take a thermocol box or any other container which can accommodate 100 vacuum tube rack. It should have a lid.
  2. Currently all examinations require samples to be transported at room temperature. So, do not keep ice-pack in the box. See Laboratory Scope for further details.
  3. Print label with biohazard symbol and stick to the container.

Special Instructions for Collection of Samples at OPD of COVID-19 Hospital(StemCell Building)

  1. ensure wifi and internet connectivity
  2. use mobile to access LIS
  3. pathology: gmcsurat.edu.in:12345
  4. biochemistry: gmcsurat.edu.in:12346
  5. Write all sample IDs in OPD case paper clearly with colored pen
  6. Keep separate rack for Biochemistry and Pathology samples
  7. Send samples to Pathology and Biochemistry Laboratory
  8. Instruct patient to collect report at HELP DESK on next visit
