Refrigerator

The refrigerator is switched on.
The refrigerator is started to use after the temperature has reached to the required temperature which is shown on the thermometer kept inside the refrigerator.

Refrigerator is placed in such a place where sufficient air can circulate to facilitate heat exchange of compressor.

The refrigerator door is kept closed to prevent warm air from outside to enter the cool chamber.

Temperature of the refrigerator is daily recorded in the morning and in the evening in the temperature monitoring sheet which are filed in c\records\file\19\Records of laboratory environmental parameters. Temperature should not exceed 12 ⁰C.

Defrosting is done once a month. The cool chamber is cleaned with 1% sodium hypochlorite and wiped with clean cloth after defrosting properly. The door gasket is cleaned properly,.

The compressor is kept dust free.

VALIDATION OF INSTRUMENTS: Whenever received new/ after repair, it is checked for temperature and proper cooling.
BACK UP PROCEDURE FOR EQUIPMENT FAILURE: In case of failure, materials are stored in other Refrigerators of Laboratory.
RESPONSIBILITY: Technical staff and doctors
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:
1. Checking is done for leakage or exhaust of gas and if found it is informed to the Section in charge and workshop immediately.
2. Any operating problem should be recorded and to be brought in notice of the laboratory In-charge. Service persons are informed regarding the problem as soon as possible to solve the problem.
3. Food and drinks are not stored in refrigerator.
4. The door of the refrigerator is not opened for longer period of time.
REVIEW, RECORDS,REMARKS & RECOMMENDATION:

Internal maintenance records are kept in Refrigerator log book labeled as CP:/C/records/file/22 /internal maintenance records
Recorded temperature sheets in File CP: /C/records/file/19/Records of laboratory environmental parameters.
Calibration details in fileCP:/C/records/file/21/Calibration records’.
