Common Sample Collection Centre

Oral consent is required after explanation of need for examination and need for sample collection

3.Instructions to patients for their own preparation before examination

Patient is provided sample container for urine collection with proper labeling
Patient should be instructed to void directly into the container. During collection the initial portion of the urine stream is allowed to escape while the midstream portion is collected
After collection patient is asked to keep the sample in sample tray
Samples are received at reception counter of clinical pathology laboratory.
Samples for body fluid are collected by clinicians in ward and received at reception counter of Clinical Pathology Lab.

4.Instructions to clinicians for selection of examinations

Refer to the table below to find weather an examination will be available or not at the time of collection. Please make sure that examination is requested and sample is collected in such a way that it reaches clinical pathology Sample Collection Windows at stipulated time.

5.Preparation of the patient

For urine examination—Not Applicable.
For Body Fluid Examination—As done by the clinician.

6.Identification of primary sample

7.Primary sample collection

Patient collect the midstream urine sample in plastic container and make it available at clinical pathology processing room for further processing
Samples of Urine and Body Fluids of indoor patients are sent to Clinical Pathology Lab.

Short history & probable clinical diagnosis are desired for interpretation of test results.

11. Safe disposal of materials and biomedical waste management

Always wear personal protective gears like gloves, mask & glasses while handling infective urine and body fluids container.
The urine & body fluid container are directly disposed in red bag on daily basis by servant under supervision of staff nurse.
Red bags are carried out by Envision on daily basis for further disposal procedure.
