1. Starting Power

1. Switch on main(wall) supply
2. Start UPS supply by pressing ON-button for few seconds
3. Switch on Erba XL-640 back-power-supply (Wait for 2 min)
4. Do not Switch on Erba XL-640 side-power-supply
   1. (side-power-supply=OFF > Front light=RED)
   2. (side-power-supply=ON > Front light=GREEN)
5. Switch on CPU and monitor power-supply
6. If UPS gives audio alarm > call resident

2. Starting software

1. Start software by double clicking “MultiXL” icon on Desktop
2. Login window will appear.
3. Enter
   1. login id = tech
   2. Password = 12345678 then click enter.

3. Reagents placement

1. Do not Switch on Erba XL-640 side power-supply during reagent refilling.
2. See the reagent tray to see which reagents need to be refilled.
3. Refill reagents twice a day, in the morning and evening using loading reagents in Erba XL-640
4. Place ISE cleaning solution(1 ml) at ISE-2 position of sample wheel

4. Program first run of morning

1. Do not Switch on Erba XL-640 side-power-supply during programming a run.
2. In patient entry⇒ write sample id of qc 5 as 5YYMMDDTT eg. 514062109 then check the group and position.similarly give entry of qc 8 .Then click on QC morning and then save . For MPR QC 5 , give entry of MPR and CGLC .and then save.

6. Placement of QC(0.5 ml)

1. Do not Switch on Erba XL-640 side-power-supply during positioning QC samples
2. Bring at room temperature and mix
3. Keep QC-5 at position-1
4. Keep MPR-5 at position-2
5. Keep QC-8 at position-3
6. Keep MPR-8 at position-4
7. Make sure that you entered the samples in that sequence in patient entry.

7. Placement of Samples(0.4 ml)

1. Do not Switch on Erba XL-640 side-power-supply during positioning patient samples
2. Open [Patient Entry]—>[Worklist] and place samples at programmed position

8. Starting run of morning

1. Switch on Erba XL-640 side-power-supply NOW.
   1. side-power-supply=ON > Front light=GREEN
2. Daily Morning maintenence
3. Do maintainance as follows:
   1. Click Prime wash,it takes around 10 minutes. On completion, message is displayed that Prime wash successfully completed.
   2. Click on R1/R2 Probe wash.Message will be displayed “put washing solution at position 55 in reagent tray and press OK to continue” click OK if it is present , if not then put the solution at that position and then click OK.It will take around 3 minutes.On completion, message is displayed that R1/R2 Probe wash successfully completed.
   3. Click on Sample Probe wash.Message will be displayed “put cleaning solution at ISE2 position in sample tray and press OK to continue” click OK if it is present , if not then put the solution at that position and then click OK..It will take around 3 minutes.On completion, message is displayed that sample Probe wash successfully completed.
   4. Click on ISE ON⇒ message will be displayed “Please wait”⇒ Click on Clean ⇒ then click start.On completion a green box will be displayed. then again click start.A new green box will appear on completion.
   5. Click Purge A ⇒ Click start ⇒ On completion a green box will be displayed. then again click start.A new green box will appear on completion.⇒ repeat 4 times.
   6. Press [Status Monitor]–>START button to start a run
   7. When Run is going on, START button is GRAY.
   8. Do not Open Front cover/place sample/place reagent till START button is gray.
   9. When run is complete, START button is GREEN again.
   10. Switch OFF Erba XL-640 side-power-supply
   11. Make sure that Front light=RED
   12. Open front cover, remove samples, close front cover.

9. Using Erba XL-640 after first run of morning:

1. Program samples:(Only when front light is RED)
2. Place samples:(Only when front light is RED)
3. Switch on Erba XL-640 side-power-supply (front light is GREEN)
4. Press [Status Monitor]–>START button to start a run
5. When Run is going on, START button is GRAY.
6. Do not Open Front cover/place sample/place reagent till START button is GREEN.
7. When run is complete, START button is GREEN again.
8. Switch OFF Erba XL-640 side-power-supply
9. Make sure that Front light=RED
10. Open front cover, remove samples, close front cover.

10. Fluid levels check:

Make cleaning solution by adding 100 ml of Erba XL-Wash/Extran in 10 liter water

11. When

1. Alarm bell rings and
2. Message “Check Fluid Level” is shown in error message window
3. Then Check level of following containers and take action:
