  7. In above window , we can know the last date of posting external Qc results.
  8. Note down or print this page to prevent last day rush in posting EQC results.

Preparation of EQC Samples

  1. Take bottle of EQC from refrigerator.Make sure to check sample number according to month.for example , If you want to prepare EQC sample for june month then sample number=6 bottle should be taken.
  2. Do not get confused between cycle Number and sample number.
  3. It has been found that the laboratory made mistake in reconstituting correct sample number.To prevent this error in future ,take following steps.
    1. Cross check correctness of sample with one more person.
    2. Preserve empty bottle of sample till report arrives.
  4. Take 5 ml Qc water(DI water of 0.00 microsiemens/cm) in volumetric flask.
  5. Gently transfer water in EQC bottle.Pour last drop of water by simply rotate flask over edge of bottle.Do not beat the flask over bottle.
  6. Mix it by gentle inversion and eversion.
  7. Put it at room temperature for 30 minute and watch for all powder particle has been dissolved.
  8. Fill ependroff cup as per your need and seal with it parafilm.

Doing EQC

  1. Run sample of EQC in morning with first batch in Erba XL-640 for 4 days.
  2. DO TSH and free T4 2 times with each ELISA batch of TSH and Free T4.
  3. Do HDL cholesterol manually 3 times when you do patient sample of TIBC and HDL cholesterol.
  4. Do Semiauto EQC single time after calibrating semiauto for Glucose,ALT,Creatinine and bilirubin.
  5. Sort data in excel sheet and calculate average ,SD and CV.
  6. 5th cup of 500 microliter is preserved for any problem in any parameter and we want to repeat it.

Post results

  5. Go to “Data entry”—→“Enter results”.Following window opens.
  6. Click on “129049/A” and following window opens.
  7. Click on “sample number” to post results.
  8. result upload on website after verification.
  9. After upload of result on website, Re-verified by third person that not present during result upload.
  10. click on “ok” button.
  12. Do not communicate with other participants in the interlaboratory comparison programme about sample data until after the date for submission of the data.
  13. Do not refer interlaboratory comparison samples for confirmatory examinations before submission of the data, although this would routinely be done with patient samples.

Monitoring results

  1. Analyse EQA and IQC results every month.
  2. Whenever possible compare results with mean of method because very small number of laboratory uses Erba XL-640.
  3. Root cause analysis(RCA) of EQA done for that parameter which has SDI > 2 or < 40 target score.RCA Protocol sheet
  4. Record of RCA is available in IQC analysis file of its respective month and it is also available in LIS–> Non conformance.
